A/Prof Loughland, a senior registered psychologist, has a strong national and international track record in translational mental health research, particularly in severe psychotic disorders. She has published 73 peer reviewed articles in high quality journals (e.g., Nature and Nature Genetics), presented at 51 national and international conferences, including as keynote speaker and symposium chair, and holds key roles in national and international scientific committees.

Research Interests

Research translation, medical education, genetics and bio-banking, and severe psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia.

Advisory groups/participation

Leads a number of local, national and international interprofessional translational research collaborations including ComPsych, an international advanced postgraduate communication skills training program for psychiatry and projects within the NSW Ministry of Health Eating Disorders Program (ED in indigenous groups; mothers with ED). Appointed to NHMRC Parenting and Child Mental Health and Wellbeing Committee (2014-2017), Clinical Lead (Research) with the NSW Ministry of Health - Pathways to Community Living Initiative (2015-2017).
